Pedroia gets the MVP
Well deserved as he was the most "qualified" candidate. He led the AL in hits, runs scored, doubles, and his VORP(Value over Replacement Player) was highest among AL players. He hit great all season long, and despite being 5'6" on a good day hit 17bombs, doubling the 6'5" Joe Mauer. I know most Minnesota homers will spew about Morneau deserving it, but let me ask you this, where was he in September?? His BA dropped 10 points in the month, and he completely tanked against the White Sox. Pedroia was the most consistent player over the course of the year, and he carried the Soux while Papi was out and Manny was gone. Congrats D-Ped, you deserved it.

We could argue this forever Dom. While I agree that Pedroia gets the award, but he got it cause he was the ONLY one period that should've been the candidate.
Lets look at the other notables:
Morneau - You are right. He was a candidate until the last month and a half where his BA dropped but also he was not Mr. Clutch when we needed him to be.
Mauer - I didn't really consider him to be a cnadidate although he did have some good numbers and a good season. He will never hit more than 10-15 homers.
Quentin - Was a candidate until he hurt his wrist or arm. Had a good year.
K-Rod - Had the saves and the record but when you have the offensive punch that the Angels had, it is a no brainer.
Hamilton - Fell off towards the end of the year.
Exactly 8, it was a down year but Pedroia was an absolute stud this year and I don't think there was anyone more deserving... except maybe his teammate Keivn Youkilis.
Pedroia was a worthy recipient, however, we should all agree, it would have been Quentin had he not gotten injured.
Possibly Bill, but Pedroia led the league in runs scored, doubles, top 5 XBH, lost batting title by less than a point etc. He was great and he also won a gold glove. Quienten basically just hit a bunch of dingers.
